Why Most Companies Get Zero ROI from AI

A February 2026 NBER study of 6,000 executives across the US, UK, Germany, and Australia found that nearly 90% of firms report no impact from AI on employment or productivity over the last three years. Two-thirds of executives use AI, but only for about 1.5 hours a week.

My Path

From spreadsheets to production platforms. How domain expertise met the right tools.

12017–2019

The Data Years

Started in B2B campaign operations. Excel pivot tables, manual reporting, endless data cleanup. The patterns were obvious. So was what could be automated. But the tools weren't there yet.

22019–2025

The Automation Shift

Stepped into a Team Lead role. First scripts appeared: Google Apps Script, Python. Small automations that saved hours. Then n8n workflows. Each one proved the same thing: the people closest to the problem build the best solutions.

32025–Present

The AI Breakthrough

AI changed everything. For the first time, domain expertise could translate directly into production software. In months, 5 platforms shipped that would have taken a dev team years. Not because of better coding, but because the problems were deeply understood.
